Why do Muslims circumambulate the Kaaba?
Circumambulating is an act of worship performed by Muslims in obedience to God’s command and in following what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught.
The intention is not to venerate the stone itself, but to glorify God alone and direct the heart to Him without anything else.
The circular movement symbolizes that God should be the center of a person’s life.
Just as things are organized around their center, the believer’s heart is organized around obedience to God.
In this scene, worldly distractions fade away and the meaning of monotheism becomes clearly evident.
A person feels that they are part of a community that is all turning toward one Creator.
For this reason, Circumambulating carries a deep meaning that goes beyond physical movement to a clear message: the oneness of God and directing all of life toward Him.
